By Cal Mercer — a Second Star Guide itinerary
Downtown Ogden sits tight against the Wasatch, with Union Station, canyon roads, reservoirs, and ski terrain in distinct directions.
Best length
2 nights
Two nights cover Historic 25th Street and one full ski, canyon, reservoir, or trail day without padding the stay.

Main activity
Historic 25th Street and one complete mountain day
Winter conditions can separate a simple city morning from a demanding canyon or SR-158 drive. Use ski buses or delay travel when official guidance makes that the safer choice.
Pace
Downtown plus one mountain day
Friday stays downtown. Saturday follows one mountain direction. Sunday keeps breakfast and a short foothill or museum stop close to the departure route.

Friday
Check in downtown, begin at the depot, walk east through the historic blocks, and settle into dinner before mountain weather becomes the evening's problem.
4:00 PM
King and two-queen rooms accompany an indoor pool, game-filled lobby, complimentary breakfast, and fitness center.
6:30 PM
A versatile Ogden dining spot for weeknight meals, celebrations, and group gatherings, with featured dishes ranging from carnitas and grilled-steak salad to vegan enchiladas.
Saturday
Choose Snowbasin for broad lift-served terrain and a comparatively straightforward parking system, Powder Mountain for expansive terrain and a steeper access-road decision, or Pineview and the foothills outside ski season.
8:30 AM
Breakfast plates, burgers, and sandwiches fill the casual American menu in a 25th Street dining room.
10:00 AM
Snowbasin, Powder Mountain, Ogden Canyon, and Pineview are not downtown add-ons. Carry layers, water, and the day's current access information.
4:30 PM
A room near 25th Street puts pizza, modern American cooking, brewpub tables, and a post-mountain walk together without another long drive.
7:00 PM
Modern American dishes made with locally sourced ingredients fill lunch and dinner menus, with weekend brunch served in a family-owned dining room on historic 25th Street.
Sunday
Choose Union Station museums when they are open, or a short Bonneville Shoreline Trail segment when the surface and weather are suitable.
9:00 AM
Eat before checkout, then keep the last stop close enough to preserve the airport, FrontRunner, or interstate departure.
11:00 AM
Union Station, the Ogden River Parkway, and city-edge trailheads offer useful final hours without sending the trip back over a canyon road.
Saturday's choice
Choose Snowbasin for broad groomed terrain, substantial vertical, multiple complimentary parking areas, and a base-area day that suits mixed abilities. Check the live mountain report and parking page before departure.
Compare the ski mountainsChoose Powder Mountain for expansive terrain and a quieter mountain identity, while taking SR-158 traction requirements, road status, parking rules, and the resort's current public-terrain map seriously.
Read the access tradeoffsDrive Ogden Canyon only after checking SR-39. Pair Pineview with Huntsville or stay on the city side for Waterfall Canyon and a Bonneville Shoreline Trail segment when surface and weather cooperate.
