Ogden's best city walk begins where railroad passengers once entered town. Follow the restored commercial blocks east, pause for the depot and architecture, and let dinner bring the route back toward its center.
The sequence
Six stops from the depot to the theater district
The order keeps the railroad relationship visible. Times are generous editorial allowances, not promised operating hours. Check museum, theater, event, and parking information before choosing the start.

Stop one
Give Union Station enough time to be more than a backdrop
The present depot dates to the rebuilding after the 1923 fire. Its grand lobby, galleries, railroad collection, outdoor locomotives, Browning-Kimball classic cars, firearms history, and western collection explain why 25th Street grew outward from this exact edge of town.
One admission has historically covered the four museums, but schedules and pricing are volatile. If the buildings are closed, the plaza, depot architecture, and rail equipment still establish the street's western threshold from public areas.
The middle blocks
Look above the restaurant doors
Electric Alley
Alleys behind the street carried service, nightlife, and a rougher mythology. Observe from public routes and keep active delivery and private spaces clear.
Washington Boulevard finish
The street grows into a larger downtown at its eastern end. Peery's Egyptian Theater supplies a distinct architectural finish before the dinner return.
Dinner on the return
Walk east for history, west again for the table
The route ends near Washington Boulevard, but dinner choices spread back through the historic blocks. Reserve one table when a ski weekend, concert, festival, or First Friday event raises demand. The walk back toward the hotel lets storefront light replace the museum-day version of the street.
Parking, transit, and access caveats
Ogden's downtown parking system is changing. Use the city's current Parking Services link rather than assuming old free-parking patterns, rates, or enforcement. Hotel parking and event closures can alter the best starting point.
Ogden Central sits just north of Union Station, and OGX plus local routes connect the station with downtown and Weber State. Sidewalk construction, winter ice, curb work, and older surfaces can affect wheelchair and stroller routes; the editorial line is not an accessibility certification.
